About University
South Ural State University is a “SMART” university that unites Europe and Asia – this is how the university’s motto is phrased today. Located in the heart of the Southern Urals, SUSU has become the foundation for positive changes in the region, including the development of a powerful industry, the preservation of a unique environment, the creation of a multicultural and multinational environment, and the fostering of new discoveries and international collaboration.
Currently, students from more than a hundred nationalities across 48 countries are studying at Russia’s largest university. As part of its strategy to integrate into the global educational space, the university is promoting vast cultural interaction and mutual exchange between Eastern and Western nations.
In October 2015, South Ural State University was selected to participate in Project 5-100, a Russian initiative aimed at enhancing the competitive position of leading Russian universities in the global market for educational services and research programs.
The strategic goal of SUSU within Project 5-100 is to establish itself as a world-class research and entrepreneurial university, with a focus on becoming a global leader in supercomputing, engineering, natural sciences, and medical sciences. This goal includes achieving a place in the top 100 of major international rankings (such as THE or QS), as well as high rankings in subject areas like medical sciences, computer science, aerospace engineering, and materials science.
An important advantage of SUSU is its geographic location. The Southern Urals are situated at the intersection of two continents – Europe and Asia. In the region, there are approximately 60 “Europe-Asia” obelisks, most of which are located in the Chelyabinsk region. The Southern Urals have long been a meeting place for different eras, cultures, and ethnic groups. From the 2nd century B.C. to the 15th century, the Great Silk Road, which connected Western European countries with China, passed through this area. Today, the trend of developing new connections between countries with different civilizations and socio-economic systems in Europe and Asia is a key focus of Russia’s domestic and foreign policy.
These factors became the foundation for the university’s new corporate brand mark. The new logo preserves the continuity of the university’s best traditions while also reflecting SUSU’s new development path as a multinational, multicultural university located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
SUSU aims to be one of the leading universities on the largest continent on Earth – Eurasia. In line with the goals of Project 5-100, the university strives to strengthen its position as a scientific research, educational, and innovation center among the world’s universities. This will enable SUSU to make significant theoretical and practical contributions to the innovative development and global competitiveness of Russia in Eurasia and worldwide.
The Faculty of Medicine of South Ural State University
The Faculty of Medicine of South Ural State University was established in July 1979 to meet the need of medical education in Mekong Delta. With the desire to constitute and elevate the medical sciences & healthcare system in Mekong area, the Faculty of Medicine has imposed the forefront of health education which enabled the optimism of the healthcare innovation in the region. Initially, when there were not enough lecturers, the subjects of basic sciences were taught by lecturers of South Ural State University for the first batch of undergraduate medical students. From 1979 to 1984, the theoretical subjects of medical syllabus were mainly accomplished by the lecturers attained periodically from Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

It has been designed as a simulated hospital environment with state-of-the-art facilities and a wide range of modern simulators & equipment which are always updated to meet the standards of simulation-based training around the world.
